IoT adaptor for enclosure cooling units

An upgrade for digital cooling

To achieve the goal of digitally integrated production, machines, systems and their components must be linked as well as possible, which is not always the case today.  Rittal now offers an upgrade of this kind for cooling units.

For the industry of the future, machines, systems and components need to be integrated into the data flow of the entire value-added process. However, what must be done if they are not yet at home in this industrial world? Rittal has developed the IoT adapter for its Blue e series of cooling units; it allows the devices to be easily connected to smart condition monitoring and IoT systems.

Higher uptime for machinery, equipment and systems

The Blue e series of cooling units can be easily connected to a Rittal IoT interface with the IoT adaptor and thus integrated into the Industry 4.0 environment – without affecting the automation. Configuration and commissioning are performed quickly and conveniently via the web server integrated into the IoT interface.
This way, the data from the cooling solution can be recorded, and efficiency audits can also be carried out. Another major advantage is that the device can be monitored to check if faults or limit values are exceeded, and the operators are then notified automatically. This ensures reliable availability and prevents expensive machine downtimes.

The IoT adapter can be used for all Rittal cooling units from the Blue e series, meaning that roof-mounted and wall-mounted cooling units in this series – both standard and stainless steel – are upgraded for Industry 4.0. Moreover, Rittal cooling units with a NEMA 3R/4 or NEMA 4X classification can be ideally integrated into IoT applications. These are also used outdoors, for example, in solar or wind power plants. As these are often installed in remote areas, remote monitoring of the controlgear and switchgear represents an advantage.
