StudiumPlus is an innovative dual study programme offered by "Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen" technical college in conjunction with the Friedhelm Loh Group. Its key selling point is the close integration of theory and practice, as you work in a company outside term time. This means you translate your academic training into real-life projects as you go.

International Bachelor’s degree

Upon successful completion of the three year course, graduates are awarded an international Bachelor's degree and start working for the Friedhelm Loh Group as committed and qualified members of staff. You will be rewarded with excellent career opportunities.

Engineering

Engineering: Electrical engineering

Graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering may be deployed in many different areas across our Group, from the development of technical equipment, systems or processes, to quality assurance and production, through to service-centric tasks. The three different majors share a common core of mathematics and natural sciences, and differ in terms of their engineering focus.

Major in electrical engineering

Electrical engineering is the branch of engineering devoted to research, technical development and production technology for devices and procedures that use electrical energy. Alongside the ubiquitous electronics and IT, recent years have seen a growing emphasis on automation and energy technology.

Engineering: Mechanical engineering

Graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering may be deployed in many different areas across our Group, from the development of technical equipment, systems or processes, to quality assurance and production, through to service-centric tasks. The three different majors share a common core of mathematics/natural sciences, and differ in terms of their engineering focus.

Major in mechanical engineering

This traditional engineering discipline includes the development, design and construction of machines. Alongside the computer-assisted design of machines, there is also a growing emphasis on production technologies and materials.

Engineering, mechanical engineering: Cooling and climate control technology engineering

Graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering may be deployed in many different areas across our group, from the development of technical equipment, systems or processes, to quality assurance and production, through to service-centric tasks. The three different majors share a core in mathematics/natural sciences and differ according to their engineering focus.

Major in mechanical engineering: Cooling and climate control technology

This major trains mechanical engineers specifically in the field of cooling and climate control technology, from climate equipment manufacturing, to various cooling techniques and heater manufacturing.

Graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering may be deployed in many different areas, from the development of technical equipment, systems or processes, to quality assurance and production, through to service-centric tasks. The different majors share a common core of mathematics/natural sciences and differ in terms of their engineering focus.

Major in computer engineering

In a growing number of technical field, traditional engineering is being replaced or complemented by complex computer systems or controllers. The dual engineering degree programme majoring in computer engineering focuses on machine-oriented software development using modern tools. Computer networks and bus systems also feature on the curriculum.

This degree course prepares you for a role within the Group which requires the interdisciplinary use of business and technical knowledge. The course focuses on the mediation of specialist knowledge and skills in the areas of technical content, business management and interface skills. You will be equipped to support the management team in areas where economic and technical aspect intersect.

Discipline: Electrical engineering

Electrical engineering is an engineering discipline devoted to the research, technical development and production technology of devices and procedures that use electrical energy. Alongside the ubiquitous electronics and IT, recent years have seen a growing emphasis on automation and energy technology.

Business and engineering engineering, a diluted version of the traditional engineering discipline, comprises the development, design and production of machines. Alongside the computer-assisted design of machines, there is also a growing emphasis on production technologies and materials.

This degree course prepares you for a role in our Group which requires the interdisciplinary application of business and technical knowledge. The course focuses on the mediation of specialist knowledge and skills in the areas of technical content, business management and interface skills. You will be equipped to support the management team in areas where economic and technical aspects intersect.

Major in Sales

This major prepares you for a role in our Group which requires the interdisciplinary application of economic and technical knowledge. You will be prepared for a role as a sales representative. The two disciplines of sales, i.e. the distribution of products, and marketing are closely intertwined.

The dual degree programme in business administration teaches the fundamentals and practical skills that will train you for a variety of commercial functions and sectors across our group.

Major in small business management

The Bachelor’s degree programme includes a sound, broad-based training in business administration combined with application-focused cross-sectional knowledge covering the areas of administration, planning and organisation.

IT

Software technology (B.Sc.)

The growing digitalisation of all corporate processes places high demands on IT departments. New technologies must be rapidly assessed and established in companies where necessary. New trends soon become critical success factors. Buzzwords such as Industry 4.0 and the advancing interconnection of services demonstrate the rapid pace of this development. Information systems are growing ever more complex and placing ever greater demands on developers and users. IT experts must therefore be capable of getting to grips quickly with new correlations and new technologies in software systems.

The Bachelor’s degree in software technology is a practical qualification in the discipline of software technology. You will learn the fundamental technologies and skills of software development and can apply them to software projects. You will learn the importance of digitalization and can assess its influence on corporate processes. By working on software development projects, you will gain hands-on experience at every phase. The course teaches the required skills to successfully analyse, design and implement software systems for heterogeneous application landscapes.

Course timetable

The StudiumPlus degree programmebegins with a preliminary internship at our group. Lectures start in October with the winter semester.
The majority of lectures take place in Wetzlar. Engineers also attend laboratory events in Gießen and (rarely) Friedberg.

The timetable for StudiumPlus alternates between practical phases within the group and university studies. Each of the individual phases is self-contained. This ensures optimum integration into the group as well as a good theoretical grounding at university.
