The tags are unwritten in their delivered state. The tag is stuck to the inside/right of the 482.6 mm (19") mounting bracket. using its adhesive surface. The component is later screw-fastened to the 482.6 mm (19") level.

RFID tags
One RFID tag per component is required for identifying
the 482.6 mm (19") components installed inside the
rack using the Rittal Dynamic Rack Control system.
The tag has a 482.6 mm (19 inch) system punching and
an adhesive surface for simple attachment to the
component.
The tag is attached to the right-hand front of the
482.6 mm (19 inch) fastening holes and remains on the
device when the component is removed from the
enclosure.
Using 13.56 MHz RFID technology the tag contains 8 k
usable internal memory. The tag is written in
compliance with ISO 15693 and facilitates reading and
writing with an external RFID handheld reader, e.g.
for servicing.
The following 3 data records may be stored on the tag:
Basic rack data:
Location, building, level,
room, row, rack number
Basic data of the respective 482.6 mm (19 inch)
component:
Recognised U, tag OFFSET, enclosure form factor (U),
manufacturer, designation of type,
serial number, MAC-Address1/2, vendor
service contact (name/phone/e-mail)
Extended component data:
Device class
(Device class - server, storage, switch, power
supply, UPS, KVM, LWL-patch panel,
Cat5/6/7-patchpanel, multiple-socket, blank panel,
component shelf etc.)
Inventory code: max. 200 characters
(at the customer's free disposal)
Electrical power data
