Three awards for employee magazine “Rundblick”

“Close to the people”: three awards for the Friedhelm Loh Group’s employee magazine

Late last year, the Friedhelm Loh Group won three awards for its employee communication media. The employee magazine “Rundblick” won the Fox Award in gold, the ICMA (International Creative Media) Award in bronze, as well as the EWA Award for empathy, appreciation and aspiration, again in bronze. With titles like “What now matters now,” “We’ve got it covered” or “We are grateful,” which looks back at the company’s 60-year history, the magazine focuses on employees in an emotional way, stays close to the people and describes what connects, motivates, drives and distinguishes them.

The 2/2020 issue won the coveted Fox Award in gold.

Employee communication has a vital role to play, now more than ever before, in these challenging times. Orientation and perspectives need to be communicated along with a large amount of appreciation for those in the company’s community. This is a top priority in the Friedhelm Loh Group – “The capability of our staff harnessed to their goal focussed cooperation is a key asset of our company” is the Group’s first company principle. This is also reflected in the employee magazine “Rundblick”, which has won three awards.

The 2/2020 issue won the coveted Fox Award in gold. Under the umbrella of the “dapamedien Verlag” publishing house and renowned partners from the worlds of science and business, the jury found some good reasons for this assessment. “Rundblick tells the stories behind the news using a variety of journalistic forms, with texts and images that are emotionally close to people. Thus, it vividly shows what connects them and what gives them strength.”

The magazine also won the international ICMA (International Creative Media) Award in bronze in the “Employee Media” sector. Moreover, recently, the Institut Interne Kommunikation e.V. (Institute for Internal Communication), with a jury from business and media, handed “Rundblick” gave it the EWA Award in bronze at the Macromedia University in Cologne. The German abbreviation “EWA” stands for empathy, appreciation and aspiration. This award mainly focuses on employee communication that puts people at the forefront.

“The Rundblick magazine has been an integral part of our corporate culture for 60 years,” says Professor Friedhelm Loh, Owner and CEO of the Friedhelm Loh Group: “We are a family-run business with a passion. For us, people come first. And that is just what we want to show with the magazine.”

Dr. Carola Hilbrand, the Friedhelm Loh Group’s Corporate Communications Director, is delighted with the jury’s positive feedback: “As a family-owned enterprise, it is important for us that we reach every member of staff with information and emotion and that we all feel part of a strong community.” That is why the current issue’s motto is “We are family.”

The employee magazine is published twice a year, in German and English. It has a circulation of over 11,000 copies for every worldwide employee.
